I'm 22 years old and male. For the last few hours I've been experiencing really bad left shoulder pain/upper left chest pain and verying degrees of chest tightness. The tightness isn't so bad now as it was a few hours ago, but the shoulder pain is still just as bad. I'm always concerned that things like this are heart related. In fact, yesterday I had my second cardiologist appointment in 2 years (had an echo to check up on my MVP and ASD). I feel silly thinking things like this are heart related, but I always feel that there's a chance. So I guess my question is should I be worried about this particular episode?

Hi SeraphisCain,
Any complaints of chest pain, tightness, etc. should be evaluated to rule out a cardiac origin. If you have not done so already, I would suggest that you notify your physician to identify if this is cardiac related or due to another factor.
Sincerely,
Theresa Jones, RN
