Question: Unexplain Chest Pain

lena23 - Tue Apr 24, 2007 2:39 am

I'm a 43 yrd old female, my weight is 127, height 5'7". Never drink or smoked, don't drink anything with caffine nor any carbonated beverages.

Have history of heart palipations since I was a teen don't take any meds for them. Previous cardio doctor said I have mitral valve prolapes but no meds were needed. Had treadmill stress test 3 yrs ago while in the hospital for a day with lots of blood work. Everything was normal. No mitral valve prolapes was detected.

In Febuary 2007 had Chest pains with shortness of breath was admitted to the hospital overnight. ER doctor said I was too young to have the symptoms and he wanted to do some addtional test as a precaution I agreed. They gave me a chemical induced stress test "no treadmill with this test" med chemials made me feel like I was having a Heart attack. I passed the test all was fine. Imagining test before and after chemical stress test was fine.

As of March 2007 I have been seeing a cardiologist had a Echo cardiogram and EKG. Tests was fine. Additonal blood tests all were fine.

My problem is this heavy pressure feeling in my chest. Lasting for 30 minutes to an hour. Comes and goes if I"m sitting or standing. Feel tired a lot.... no energy sometimes. Shortness of breath sometimes with the heaviness in chest area..sometimes my chest bones feels sore.

Don't have Diabetes my blood pressure runs low sometimes. Never had any high blood presure. My pressure runs 100/70.

My doctor ruled out doing a cardiac catherzation to further explore possibilites. I'm not imagining this heavy feeling my chest it scares me but I don't know what else to do. I have weird Cough sometimes when I get this heavy feeilng in my chest. They check for blood clot in lungs but my test said my lungs were fine.

I'm seeing the best Cardiovasular Team in my city.

My aunt had a Heart attack in her 50's and is doing well. My mom had a Heart attack in her 60"s and dies recently of congestive Heart failure.

don't know what to do next

Dear Lena23,
Sometimes our bodies will say what our minds are not able to express. Have you been experiencing other stressors lately besides your concerns about your heart? Are there additional stressors in your home, work, or family? Many people I know who are very self reliant, have difficulty dealing with stress, and have such overall feelings of being out of control of their life, their work, their health, that their bodies will shout out loud with pain, and soreness, and palpitations, and heaviness....... all in an effort to relieve the bottled up pressure cooker of stress deep inside. If any of this is a possibility for you - I suggest you explore some mental health professionals in your area. Clinical psychologists are ones who are specially trained in helping people find out how to deal with the problems of life... and to provide a gateway to support services. We all have stresses - we don't all necessarily have the resources to deal with them. Please consider this as a possible underlying source for your chest/heart pain.
