For about the last week I have been experiencing heart palpitations a few times a day. I'll have a beat that feels as if it's being skipped or is taking really long to thump, pressure builds up, and then I have a larger thump than usual. Today it has been happening quite frequently. I am also experiencing a lot of tension in my chest area and I am not sure but it feels as if I cannot take in as much breath as I am used to.
I am 24, male, 5'11", 130lbs.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Turtlesti,
You may be experiencing PVC's (premature ventricular contractions). When this happens, the heart beats early so there is a longer than normal pause after this until the next heart beat. The long pause allows the heart to fill with more blood than normal that, in turn, causes a stronger heart beat than the previous ones.
PVC's are quite common and often are not dangerous. However, if you are noticing these happening more often it is a good idea to have this evaluated just to be sure. Your primary doctor can do an ECG to look at the rhythm and see if there is anything that requires an evaluation by a cardiologist.
Best wishes.
