I have been diagnosed with mild Tricuspid, Mitral, and Aortic Regurgatation. What causes this?
I am only 30 years old, does this happen often to people my age?
I also have an interatrial septal
aneurysm, that is bowing toward the right atrium. Is this serious?
I have heard of associated stroke with these. Should I be concerned?
Thanks, jenn

Dear Guinevere,
Thank you very much for using our website.
Since i addressed nearly every thing in your first 2 messages except for the mitral regurge, i will tell you my thoughts in this reply.
Once more, if there is no evidence of structural abnormality. One of the most common abnormalities now readily identifiable on the echocardiogram is mitral valve prolapse. If you have mitral valve prolapse then this could be the cause of your mitral regurge. The things that need to be done then is to follow-up with an echocardiogram and make sure that you receive prophylaxis against infective endocarditis when appropriate.
Once more, thank you very much for using our website http://doctorslounge.com and i hope that this information helped.
Yasser Mokhtar, M.D.
