Question: left chest pain + fever

Lee786 - Wed Jan 25, 2006 7:52 am

I'm a 29 yo male I have been having pain around my left rib cage
I say around. the pain seems to show in 2 places

at the very bottom of my rib cage I was having a nagging pain
I started to get out more often and cut down my smoking
and started riding my mountain bike more often (15 miles every other day)

that pain stopped after a week of this but I still felt it's not 100%
normal

I seen my GP 2 days ago he said without any tests or even listening to my lungs that I have Pleurisy

today I returned to my gp's office same problem with Fever this time and seen another doctor who has arranged an ECG for next monday
and sent me for a xray today but I have to wait 10 days for the results. he also listend to my chest and said it sounded ok
and he didn't think there was a problem but the tests will confirm this
I am real worried about this xray as I was called back in for a second xray......I was told she didn't get all my lungs in the first one.

I think saying im worried is putting it lightly ive had more pain today than ive had from this problem
im very upset and can't stop crying and thinking the worst

today I started getting a different kind of pain more towards the middle of my chest

you may think im a big baby crying about it all day but the fact is
I seen my farther die from Lung cancer 3 years ago
and it's not the best way to go. he was only 53.

I have no other problem other than what I have said I don't get out of breath and im not Coughing or anything like that
and I have no pain with deep breaths

if it turns out my xrays are ok this post wil remind me what a fool ive been smoking for the past ten years.

I would like replys fromthe medically trained only plaese

posted my first post thismorning and by 1 pm
I had lost the plot lol I think this was down to my temp

anyway id had it with waiting my temp was real high
what is not good as I also suffer with Epilepsy and my fits are somtimes due to high temps

I went to A&E had an ECG and got my xray results and had blood tests with in an hour

all said I have a chest infection lol
didn't think after a month it would be a chest infection
a month is a long time to have somthing like that

at the end of the day its my own fault for smoking
so im packing in I will be down the doctors asap
for the patchs as ive tried and failed to pack in without them

advise if your looking on the forums and websites
for medical info don't just go to A&E
every stie I looked at said I was on my last legs when clearly im not

cheers

Lee
