Question: Pain Just Under Sternum

 Mandy23 - Sat Apr 21, 2007 10:06 pm

I have this burning/stabbing pain right below my xiphoid process. It has been hurting for about 3 days off and on all day. Sometime its like a pulsating feeling which really isn't painful, it just feels funny. Any ideas on what is causing this? I am a 23 year old female, with no previous health conditions.

User avatar My first thought would be some reflux pain. You may want to try taking an antacid to see if this helps. My personal thought is that the liquid versions coat the esophagus better on the way down and may help a bit more with esophagus irritation than tablets.

If this doesn't help I would recommend you see your doctor for an evaluation, especially if the pain worsens.

Best wishes.
