71 yr white male, for past two weeks, middle of night and early mroning urgent need to clear throat, Lost two older brothers recently to congestive heart failure.

 Hi Tkrfishen,
I would recommend you see your doctor about this. There are several possibilities including reflux, viral infections and allergies. Congestive heart failure could potentially cause this.
Follow up with your doctor is important to determine which of the possibilities is going on and how to treat it.
