my throat is really dry and have had a cough since i had a viral infection a few weeks back, i woke up yesterday morning feeling like someone had repeatedly kicked me in the ribs, i thought i must have slept funny. however this morning when i woke up my throat was very dry and i had pains all along my chest. i ache all over and these pains in my chest only occur when i am sat down. can anyone tell me whats wrong with me??

Hi Sarlouise,
After a viral respiratory infection, the residual coughing sometime persists for a period of time. However this new complaint of yours like aching all over and pain in chest could herald a fresh episode of a viral. I think you will benefit from some warm salt water gargles and some tylenol.
Suppose you do not improve with these in a couple of days' time I strongly suggest you consult your internist.
