My boyfriend recently told me the reason he was coughing blood was because of an accidental exposure to freon. He's coughing blood almost daily. I havent been able to find any information on how bad his cndition may be. Any info or help would be appreciated.

Hi dhar,
Irritation of the respiratory tract may cause changes in the color of sputum production. However, coughing up blood, warrants an evaluation by a physician to identify and treat the condition. If your boyfriend has not been evaluated then I would strongly suggest that you encourage him to do so regardless of the causative factor.
Sincerely,
Theresa Jones, RN
