Pruritus (Itching)

A sensation in the skin that induces the desire to scratch (itch).

The most important point is to distinguish between the presence or absence of primary skin lesions.

Primary skin lesions are a variety of basic cutaneous lesions that are used to diagnose and describe specific skin diseases.

In its simplest form pruritus is either

  1. Pruritus accompanied by primary skin lesions

  2. Pruritus accompanied without primary skin lesions.
