Question: very unusual rash

FLAEMT - Wed Jan 31, 2007 9:39 pm

Hello to All,

One of my friends recently went on a flight and during the flight felt an Itch on her left knuckle, she itched it and it became red and irritated. She thought nothing of this as the Itching went away after 5 minutes, however, a red lesion if you will formed in that area and hasn't gone away for a week. I don't think the ruptured any blood vessels from the Itching, and it currently doesn't Itch her anymore. She hasn't started any new meds, and can't conjecture what may have caused this. It has irregular borders and is dark red and about 2 in. long and 1/2 " wide. What can this be? I was thinking a hemangioma, but aren't those usually congenital? Please your thoughts would help us solve this. She is going to see the physician soon, but you know how long appointments take, so I thought we'd get some expert input prior to that. Thanks for your time.
