Question: bumps on inner thigh

Jim58 - Thu Feb 08, 2007 10:21 am

im 19 years old female. Hi.
I recently noticed little bumps on my inner thigh after I had an irritation to my shaving. I didnt worry about it. now im not sure. but it looks like warts. they arent on my vagina. just on my thigh. both sides since they touch. what is it?I have a gynecologist appt in 2 weeks anyway I was gonna have her look at it. But ive looked things up and from what I have seen and what not they seem liek flat warts. But im very unsure.

Hello,

These bumps are probably due to Dermatitis.
Dermatitis is referred to different types of skin rashes that are caused by infections, allergies, and irritants.
Contact Dermatitis occurs due to skin contact with a substance that causes an allergic reaction (allergic contact Dermatitis)
or with an irritant substances (irritant contact Dermatitis).

Avoiding the causing substance is the mainstay of prevention in addition to medications prescribed by your doctor.

A secondary bacterial infection on top of of Dermatitis is possible and should be avoided by following local hygienic measures.

Other causes to be excluded are (less likely) :
- Infections include candida and
Dermatophyte skin infection ( ringworm) , can result in lesions typically are annular, with an advancing scaly border and central clearing.

- STD like warts should be excluded although less likely to be the cause.
Genital warts appear as growths or bumps. Warts could be raised or flat, single or multiple, small or large., flesh-colored or whitish in appearance and do not cause Itching, or pain.
Genital warts are usually diagnosed by visual inspection and tissue examination is possible.

Direct clinical examination is essential.
Best regards.
