Question: Painful bump under scar

 lejones25 - Mon Jul 23, 2007 1:15 pm

I am a 24 year old female. About a month or two ago, I cut my finger close to the joint. I washed the cut with water, applied pressure and bandaged it.

It has since healed with very little exterior scarring, but there is a painful bump underneath.

I thought it might be scar tissue, but friends think it might be an infection that wasn't properly taken care of.

Thank you for your time.

User avatar This is likely just a little excessive scar tissue. It may improve over time. If not, you could have a scar revision by a plastic surgeon. If it were infection, left untreated, there would be other alarming symptoms such as fever, chills, pus, etc.
