I am a 24 year old female. About a month or two ago, I cut my finger close to the joint. I washed the cut with water, applied pressure and bandaged it.
It has since healed with very little exterior scarring, but there is a painful bump underneath.
I thought it might be scar tissue, but friends think it might be an infection that wasn't properly taken care of.

This is likely just a little excessive scar tissue. It may improve over time. If not, you could have a scar revision by a plastic surgeon. If it were infection, left untreated, there would be other alarming symptoms such as fever, chills, pus, etc.
