I am a 41 year old male. No surgeries. I had protected sex 2 weeks ago. A day later, a red rash deleveloped at the base of my penis on one side and the other side was a "pimple like" thing, or like a pimple from a canker sore?
It is very sensitive and sore. I have tried Polysporin but it does not seem to help?
Can you offer any suuggestions?
This is teh first time this has ever happened?

Hi Gratuit,
There are a few STD's that can cause these symptoms, most notably herpes and a less common infection called chancroid. I would recommend you be tested since using protection does not protect 100% against these.
Also, it may simply be an area of trauma from friction that has caused the skin irritation.
I would recommend this be evaluated unless it is better in the next day or two.
Best wishes.
