Question: Anal Bump / Blood in Stool.. Experts Read..

problemz - Mon Sep 20, 2004 7:36 pm

Hi , I am 19 years old and I have been having a few problems lately. First off I have to say that I have been drinking almost everyday for the past year, but last few weeks I have drank alcohol only a few times. Well during the time I used to drink alot, I noticed when I started to drink and not eat for almost a whole day or more, I started to get bright red blood in the toilet , from my stools im guessing. Well that happend a few times everytime I would drink and not eat. I havnt gotten one of those in more then 4 months now. My stools are also now always thin, except for lately its been getting better because I drink alot less. There is also mucus almost everytime I have a bowel movement, I notice it in the toilet. Yesterday, I drank alot of beer, but had eaten a big meal right after. I havnt eaten since then. Well when I woke up this morning, there is a bump right next to my anus. I notice it from abit discomfort when I sit. And when I had a bowel movement few hours ago, it started to hurt alot. And when I saw my stools (wich were thin now) there was small streaks of blood. I took a shower and applied some hot water on it, and not it doesnt really hurt anymore, but I can still feal it abit. Well from all this information I have provided , or I can provide more if needed, what can be the most probably cause... I hear at my age its very hard to get cancer from the colon. BTW i notice all these things happen mostly when I drink and not eat for a good amount of time.

oh and forgot to mention, this bump by my anus has come and gone a few times in the past year. Same spot, same bump it seems. Hope this helps. Again I think it has only appeared when I have drank night before.

User avatar Dear Problemz,

What you are describing fits a simple case of hemorrhoids. It can also be a case of anal fissure with hemorrhoids but an anal fissure is usually painful.

Drinking can cause inflammation related to alcohol in the stomach called alcoholic gastritis, this inflammation can lead to erosions in the stomach, bleeding and blood in the stools, but blood resulting from this condition (unless the bleeding is very severe) is usually black in color when it comes out of the rectum.

My recommendation at this time is to be seen by a health care professional to give the correct diagnosis and treatment.

Thank you very much for using our website http://doctorslounge.com and i hope that this information helped.

Yes, that helped alot. Thanks. I really don't want to go to the doctor so I will just let it wear out on its own since I have been drinking alot less anyway. BTW what cream is good for the bump and what store could I buy it at? such as ralphs or vons?

i would like to update my status and hope you guys are still willing to help with your knowledge.

It has been many months since my post and problems have gotten worse. My stools have almost always been thin and the bump around my anus has become more bumps around the anus. My stool is always thing and I sometimes have to go to the bathroom a few times because one session not much comes out its thin. I still get streaks of blood in my stools every once in a while.. it is mostly after a night of drinking. Going to a doctor is not a choice as I cannot afford it and have no medical plan right now so with these added symptoms i have is this still a simple case of hemmaroids or could it be something worse. Also I am 20 years old.
