I have a lump under my skin near my shoulderblade about the diameter of a dime. It's been there for at least a year, but seems to be a little more pronounced now. There is no surface change on the skin other than the small protrusion from the normal contour of the skin. The color is the same as the surrounding skin and there is no pain or redness. Is this something I should really get checked out, or likely just some small fat deposit or something like dogs seem to get sometimes?
Thanks

The lump is either a lipoma or an epidermoid cyst. Diagnosis can only be confirmed by examination. Both are benign. The former is mobile and has no visible pore; the latter is fixed in the skin and may have a visible pore which extrudes an offensive material.
