If they maintain good a1c levels (around 6)? What are the risks?

Hello If I were diabetic I would not risk unnecessary injury to the body which would possibly result in poor healing. This is a personal decision but there is no way to predict who will react badly.

I appreciate your opinion, but you haven't told me the risks. And would the risks be that much greater than a person without diabetes?

Hello, The risks are infection and yes, anyone can have that risk but diabetics do not heal as well as non-diabetics so infections must be guarded against and treated carefully.
