Could you tell me whether an ultrasound of the testes scans right through the testicle or just scans the surface. I thought it looked through but a friend has told me otherwise

 Dear Simon,
Ultrasound scans both the surface and through the substance of the testicles as well. They are very good at detecting abnormalities within the substance of the testicles.
