Serious Recurrent Pain in Left Shoulder/Arm

General Medical Discussion

Post subject: Serious Recurrent Pain in Left Shoulder/Arm

Almost a year ago I started work as a waitress... working 12 hour shifts. I was using muscles I hadn't preiously used that often and would be sore at the end of the day. I worked there to 'help out' for about a month. Afterwards, I started getting very bad pain in my left shoulder. Sometimes it even radiates down my arm. When I asked my doctor she said it was a pulled muscle and could take up to a year to heal. Well, it's been a year and I still get the pain... worse now than when it started. Sometimes it is really excruciating in the mornings probably because of the way I had slept, but it also hurts pretty badly even if i am sitting at my desk at work for awhile. Could it still be a pulled muscle and taking it's time healing?? Or could this be a pinched nerve? I was lifting heavy (30 to 40 pounds) at my waitressing job. Please help. My arm and shoulder hurts so bad sometimes I want to cry.

Stormyluv,
A 'pulled muscle' probably would have healed by now. I think you should consult a rheumatologist if the pains continue. You may need physiotherapy.
