Weird bumps/fins on tongue

Postby JustAGirl » Sun Apr 17, 2005 8:40 pm

I hope this is the right forum..

Ok, about 4 days ago, I noticed my tongue feeling weird, constant tingling, a little numbness, and a little burning. I felt some pain when I would lift my tongue up all the way. I had also noticed some soreness on the underside of my tongue. And it seemed when I woke up in the morning, my tongue was swollen (I don't know if this is common or not, it hasn't been for me). Then I looked in the mirror to see what was going on, and on the underside of my tongue, I noticed some bumps and I think some of those bumps became a little um...tentacle looking, not too long, but it was like a flappy fin, but just as small as the bumps though. Now, 2 days later, I notice the same bumps and fins developing on the side of my tongue near my wisdom teeth, and all along the side of my tongue to the very tip of my tongue (its as if they're developing points on my tongue, picture the points on an octagon, thats how its starting to form), from the back, they are bigger, and get smaller as it goes toward the front. All of these bumps, on the side and back are reddish in color. I believe I had some growing on the other side of my tongue also, but for some reason, it went back to normal. My throat felt a little funny too, kind of sore, I actually remember this being the first symptom, my throat was really sore before the problems with my tongue started. Also, I understand that white bumps on the very back of the tongue is normal, right? Well, I have some big red ones, is that normal? And what kind of doctor would be in the best position to treat me?
