Singulair (montelukast sodium) and allergy testing

I take Singulair (Montelukast Sodium)once a day, just recently heard that it is given for Allergy symptoms. I had scratch tests done a few months back and was told to continue taking all my meds for treating asthma which includes serevent and flovent twice a day and when needed albuteral and the Singulair.
My question could taking the Singulair effected the outcome of my scratch tests?? Everything I tested for came back negative, now the doctor is questioning whether I have asthma at all???

Singulair is a selective leukotriene receptor antagonist that inhibits leukotrienes known to be correlated with the pathology of asthma.

I am 37 and have been taking Singulair for 5 years now and it has been wonderful in controlling my asthma. I had tried everything for many years and nothing was working. I have taken all kinds of inhalers like Azmacort and oral meds like Accolate and nothing made a difference but I continued to use them anyway, as well as try new things because I had no choice until Singulair came out! My doctors were amazed at the results. But now in the last 2-3 months Singulair (10 mg a day), it is no longer working and I do not want to go back on steroids. Is it safe to take the Singulair twice a day instead?
