I've been feeling emotionally numb, but i don't have PSTD

Postby blessedstarlight » Fri Jan 23, 2009 1:16 am

everything that i have read about being in a state of "emotionally numbness" says that it is caused by something traumatic. now i have dealt with some hard things in my life but i in no way think that it traumatized me, those past things may have broken me temporarily. but why would i feel emotionally numb, are there any other indicators or triggers of "emotional numbness?"

Hi blessedstarlight,

There could be many possible causes for feeling emotionally numb besides PTSD. Some examples include depression, a reaction to stress, loss or relationship problems, and even rarely some medical causes. I might suggest that you consider seeing a counselor or therapist, to understand what underlies this state of numbness. In addition, you might see your physician, and be sure that you don't have any medical illness that might contribute to this. Good luck!
