Effexor and alcohol

Postby Sil3nt » Sun May 29, 2005 5:42 pm

Ok, ive heard that effexor doesnt interact with alcohol but it is still recommended to stay clear of it. now if it doesnt interact then its just a "just in case" thing right? if i do consume say 10 beers, what will happen to me?

It is a VERY bad idea for people with depression to consume alcohol because it is a depressant and makes your symptoms worse, after the "buzz" wears off.

Effexor "adjusts" your brain chemistry to give you relief of your symptoms. If you drink with it, you are also adjusting your chemicals. The consequences are usually worse depression that can last for several days after the drinking. 10 beers is very excessive! If you are going to be drinking heavily, even on weekends, it would be a good idea to discuss the risks with your doctor.
