Hi there -
Canine meningitis, as with most veterinary infections, is not transmittable to humans. In fact, it's generally not very contagious at all, and is difficult to spread even to other dogs, although if there are other dogs it may be wise to keep them separated from the ill one, more for the sick dog's own peace and quiet.
Your vet is correct. Hope your dog gets better soon.
