5th metatarsal fracture

Postby Marsie » Mon Jan 19, 2009 10:50 am

I have a 5th metatarsal fracture. I was in cast for 5.5 weeks and i'm 2 weeks out of cast. I still have pain and a bump at the location of the fracture. Would this be bone callus?

Hello,
This bump may be callous. If the bone is bothersome with increased pain or swelling, it would be good to xray it to check for alignment and bony healing (callous formation).
Otherwise, ice and analgesics until you see ortho.
Let us know how it goes.
