My last pregnancy (april 2008) ended in a 2nd trimester loss due to uterine incarceration. I am now pregnant again (almost 10 weeks) and am very worried about recurrence. My previous obstetrician was not familiar with the condition therefore I did not receive the care needed to keep my baby alive (manually moving the uterus off of the sacrum). I have now changed to a different provider and had my first appt today and this dr is also not very familiar with this condition. I was hoping to work out a game plan with him as far as evaluating the pregnancy before incarceration were to occur and a plan of action if it did occur again.
I have spent countless hours researching medical journals and obstetrical text books but I still have a lot of questions and I can't find the answers. My main question - when should manipulation of the uterus should be done if incarceration is diagnosed? It is estimated that my last baby died around 14 weeks and 3 days although we did not find out until 18 weeks and 3 days. I don't even have my next appt until I'm almost 13 weeks. My last dr wanted to wait until 15 weeks to act on this pregnancy but that would have been too late last time. Also, is there anything that I can do to prevent this from happening again? It already feels the same. I can feel the severe pressure on my bladder and I'm in constant discomfort. It led to sever urinary retention last time with a complete loss of the ability to urinate.
