Does weight at conception affect when you start showing?

Postby vickilynn_75 » Sun May 24, 2009 5:25 pm

I am 14 weeks pregnant and while my clothes are definitely getting tighter, I'm not really showing and I don't even feel a hardness in my lower abdomen. I was a little overweight when I got pregnant, could that be the reason I can't feel or see anything?

Yes, extra weight can disguise pregnancy for quite a while. Also, a first pregnancy often does not "show" for several weeks and each person is different so it can be hard to guess pregnancy based on appearance.

I would not be concerned at this point. Even thin women may not show at this point; others will.

Best wishes and good luck in your pregnancy.
