Hello,
Most people do not know when they are ovulating. That is the reason we use birth control throughout the month, not just on three days when pregnancy might occur. There are ways to find out by using an ovulating predictor kit, monitoring your basal body temperature and charting the fluctuations and some women become very skilled at recognizing subtle mucus changes in the discharge.
If you are trying to conceive, the best first attempts are just to have regular intercourse, and if you have a regular cycle your chances of ovulating are greatest between day 8 and day 19 of your cycle (start counting the first day of your period).
Best wishes.
