endometriosis and andometriosis

Postby ethansmommy8506 » Sun Nov 09, 2008 2:56 am

I am a 25 yr old mother of a 2 year old. I have always had very severe menstral periods and severe cramping, after the birth of my son I have had some bladder control issues, and urgency, and recently I have devolped severe pain with intercourse. My gynocologist initially thought painful bladder syndrome and administered the pottassuem sensitivity test, though I did not test positive like he anticiated. I have a blood condition that prevents me from using traditional birth control so I was using a Mirena IUD. My Doctor has recently decided to pull out my IUD and track the severity of my periods and pain with intercourse before he decides to do the laperoscopy. He has also said that because my son was delivered by C-section that it could be andometriosis or endometriosis (or a comion of the two), I am not sure how I should be feeling about this possibility. I want to have more children and my DR has said that it is ok to have a baby right now, but I need to know what the likelyhood of being able to have more children floowing the diagnosis. What would the treatment involve for both or either and what is the likelyhood of a histerectomy. I am a student right now and I need to decide if I should go ahead and have another baby right now. I am confused and terrified Can anyone help me?!

Hello,
It is possible to live with endometriosis and andometriosis without intervention if the pain is controlled. There is usually no need to rush into hysterectomy. Pregnancy can be more difficult to achieve but often, if infertility is the result, help is available. Sometimes a laparascopic surgical procedure can provide a window of opportunity so when pregnancy is desired but not happening, this can make the difference.

Don't despair; this is treatable and unless the condition is disabling in itself, you do not need to interrupt your studies unless it is your desire to conceive now rather than later.

Best wishes.
