Red, painful spot on outer labia near crease of leg

I woke up yesterday with a red, paiful spot on the very outer edge of my right labia, almost where the crease of my leg is. The spot is red on the outside, and I can feel an oblong hard lump underneath the skin. I have tried A&D ointment, peroxide, and Neutrogena skin aid, but nothing helps. Could this be a (Bartholian?) cyst, even though it is not near my opening? Should I try a hot washcloth? Thanks!

Hello,
Chances are it is an infected follicle or some similar dermatological condition causing inflammation. It will probably go away on its own but using warm compresses can help ease the discomfort. The ointments probably wont' help.
