Heavy Bleeding/cloting

Postby pk3104 » Sat Jan 17, 2009 7:35 am

51 yrs old, period last month almost non existant, period this month into 2nd week, very heavy bleeding, more than experienced before for this length of time, but alot of blood clots and cramping, much more than usual, just seems to pour out sometimes. I am feeling tired, legs hurt, headache all yesterday but gone today, bloodpresure alttle elevated. At what point should I be concerned.

Very abnormal cycles, increased or decreased bleeding patterns and clots are common in your age range, which could be a symptom of perimenopause. It is not alarming but you should have it checked out if it continues to cause you to worry. Your doctor may want to do hormone evaluation, endometrial analysis, etc. It is possible you could benefit from treatment but getting a good diagnosis is important. In the meantime, keep a log of your symptoms, cycle dates and details. Annual pelvic exams are important with your gynecologist.

Best wishes.
