fibroid adenomas in the breast

Postby lindafaye777 » Thu May 19, 2005 11:11 am

six months ago I had surgery to remove a big solid mass from my left breast. After the biopsy I was told it was fibroid adenomas. I have seven more tumors in there. Every six months I go for another ultrasound and possible surgery. What are the chances of one of those tumors being breast cancer and should I take this more seriously.

Hello,
Fibroadenomas are benign tumors that are solid and round. These painless lesions feel rubbery and can be moved around easily by the patient. Fibroadenomas are often found during routine self breast examination. Fibroadenomas are most common in young women in their late teens and occur more often in African American women. They are known to recurr frequently. The reason you undergo ultrasonography is to insure that you do not have a cancer. If any suspicion arises or the adenomas become disfiguring your doctor will resort to removing them.

Postby lindafaye777 » Thu May 19, 2005 4:54 pm

I am 35 and have fibroadenoma. I have seven tumors. I found my first tumor December of 2004. Three months before that I had regular yearly exam and had no tumors. Three months later I have seven tumors. They are very painful.
