diarrhea and fever

My daughter six years old is with diarrhea and fever (37,5 to 39) for 5 days now. About the fever the first two days was high (38 - 39) after for one day it was normal and then for two days is mainly at the range of 37 to 37,8 with two peaks of 39. At the begining the diarrhea was very often, every 20 minutes, now is less than 8 times per day (almost every time after she has eatten something).
Is it commonplace this description or we have to be anxious about something? We have already ask for blood test, bowel test and urine test. The urine test was negative. During this period she has lost about two kilos.

While usually this sort of presentation and symptoms wouldn't be of too much concern, the fact that your daughter has lost 2 kilos and runs a risk also of dehydration causes some concern. She almost certainly has a gastrointestinal infection, and the question remains as to whether it is viral (treat the symptoms and supportive care til it runs its course) or bacterial (aggressive treatment with antibiotics, plus fluid replacement). The blood and stool tests should identify the type of infection and guide treatment. In the meantime she must remain properly hydrated with fluids, preferably those which contain electrolytes to replace those lost due to the very frequent diarrhea. This is of critical importance.
