Your concern about alcohol withdrawal is valid. To be sure of your own safety, it would be a good idea to consult your doctor about a planned withdrawal from alcohol use. Attending local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings can be helpful through having support during and after your withdrawal period. While decreasing your alcohol consumption over a period of time may be successful, my concern is for your safety while doing so. Medication assistance may make it easier for you, and your doctor can monitor your physical status and any signs of problems due to withdrawal.
