epicondylitis

hi,

i'm jacky from belgium and i've got a question, i've been painting for 15 years , and i've been diagnosed for epicondylitis. Now i've been wondering if this could be from the job i'm doing (painter) ? ,I don't do any sports. i hope you can give me an anwser to my question.

Hello Jacky,
Yes indeed epicondylitis can be caused by painting.
Any repetitive hand and forearm motion can cause inflammation of the forearm muscle's tendonous insertion onto the epicondyle of the distal humerus.

Epicondylitis can be either medial (golfers elbow) or lateral (tennis elbow)... or both.

Treatment includes rest, ice, compression. Gradual return to activity. Forearm strap/brace. Sometimes corticosteroid injection at the epicondyle.
