Is there any cure for SPINOCEREBELLAR ATAXIA 2(SCA 2)??

My younger brother is having the same disease. Please reply..

Hello -

So far there is no cure and no specific treatment for spinocerbellar ataxia 2(SCA 2).
If Parkinsonism develops it is sometimes responsive to levadopa, but other than that there is little specific treatment and what there is is supportive rather than curative.

I hope this answers your question. Meanwhile, every day we are making progress in various areas, so there is always some basis for hope for cures or improved therapies for all diseases currently without known cures.
