Post-concussion consumption of alcohol

Postby RKelly » Thu Apr 09, 2009 11:44 am

Hello, I experienced mild head trauma about 2 weeks ago. I had a headache for about 3 hours afterwords, so I went to my physician and was told I had a "mild concussion." I haven't had any symptoms since the incident, and did not black out during the incident. I've also never had a concussion before. Is consuming alcohol two weeks later still a bad idea in this case?

Hi there --

Given the mildness of the injury and the time that's pased, moderate alcohol consumption really should not be a concern now. If you've had no additonal symptoms since, then you should be fine. It sounds like it was a very minor concussion and should be totally cleared up by now.

Again, as always, moderate alcohol consumption is okay. It should cause you no problem at all.

Good luck to you.
