round pneumonia and post pneumonia cough

I am 40 years old and non smoker.
7 weeks back I had high fever and admitted to hospital. Initially doctors
thought It's TB. So they did x- ray and found shadow in upper left corner of the
lungs Then they did CTScan. After that they realize that it's pneumonia.
and started giving anti-biotics. I stayed hospital 8 days. Then doctors
did bronoscopy and biopsy. In the biopsy reports they just found
inflamotary cell no other bad things. And also said it's infection and prescribed
levaquin for 10 days. After that they discharged me from hospital and asked
for follow up after two weeks. I am doing well now. I had post pneumonia
cough and doctor gave amox-clav for that. cough, now almost gone away.

Now primary doctor asked me to go for another CTScan to make that
shadow gone completely.
My concern is when they found nothing even in biopsy and diagonize
as round pneumonia then do I relay need another CTScan?

I am feeling strong and good, even went for a short hiking trip.

Hello -

The CT is a good idea because with pneumonia and other pulmonary diseases, there can be lesions left which can either reactivate, or can become calcified. It's important, even if there is a calcified nodule left over from this, that it be noted, so that in the future if you have chest imaging done and something "odd" shows up, it can be correlated with the CT finding. If nothing is found, all the better. Either way, it's a wise thing to do. Glad you're feeling fine now. Pneumonia can be really insidious, as you've found out.
