bad acne

Postby KiMiLiNa1619 » Mon Jan 17, 2005 4:24 am

i get acne that isnt just little pimples. I get large bumps that are deep in the skin...like i cant pop them unless someone actually went into my skin to drain the bumps. They hurt if touched and sometimes when i toss and turn at night i accidentally bump them and it hurts soooo bad. I tried an acne medicine called ACCUTANE but it made me soo sick and i felt like i was dying on it. These bumps make me really self concious. I seem to get them more on the right side of my face then my left...and they are located to the far left of my face..like lined up with where my earlobes are and near the neck. I heard they were called "Nodular acne" but i could be wrong. What can help them go away?

Dear Jamie,

Acne is not easy to deal with.

Since you were accutane, i will assume that you were under medical supervision.

Please, ask your doctor about the latest treatment and i hope he/she is a dermatologist because they have more experience than anybody else with acne.

From your description also, an element of acne might be secondary to infection, and some patients are also given specific antibiotics to treat this infection element.
You might want to ask your doctor about antibiotics as well if you were never given antibiotics as part of the treatment.

Accutane is a medicine that has lots of side effects and lots of patients opt not to continue it.

Thank you very much for using our website http://doctorslounge.com and i hope that this information helped.

It's called cytic acne and your doctor can admisiter a cortisone injection inside of the cyst and the pain will relieve instantly. It will then take a couple of days to go down. Also, you need am antibiotic like Minocin. It will clear your skin quickly but you muct take it on a full stomach with plenty of water. This is why you were getting sick from the Accutane. Accutane is also dangerous to the liver. Take the antibiotic instead.
