Body Rash

Hi Im a 24 year old male and have recently been having a horrible body rash.

The rash itself began in the armpit area and has spread from there to my arms to my hands and between my fingers and my thigh and groin area. The rash itself is primarily scattered red bumps where Ive scratched or have been in locations where clothing would rest and red splotches where ive managed to control myself so the bumps didnt elevate. It has been going on for at least 2 weeks. Its calmed down some when I take Claritin D but still isnt fully going away.

I was with girl prior to the rash begining that had a rash similar to the one I developed. Didnt think anything of it at the time since she had a doctor examine it and was prescribed some normal rash medications, I don't recall the names of the medications but remember it was some kind of prescription strength itch creme. She had had the rash for over a month and had trouble sleeping because of it. She lived with me for 2 months and we had a handful of sexual encounters. So Im not sure if that might be the source of the rash.

Any ideas what this might be?

There are hundreds of types of rashes, caused by too many things, you need to see a dermatologist, as a skin scraping will probably be in order.

The history of multiple sexual encounters with a female who lived with you for 2 months and had a similar skin rash, the anatomical distribution of the rash and the poor response to anti-histamines are all very suggestive of scabies.

The condition is caused by a skin parasite known as Sarcoptes scabiei.
Scabies in adults is often sexually acquired, although in children it usually is not.
Get to see a dermatologist or genitourinary physician for confirmation and treatment.
