High TSH Results with recurring kidney infections

Postby tmariks » Thu Sep 18, 2008 11:49 am

Hello, I am a 42 year old female who just received blood results back. After much searching on the site regarding high 3rd generation TSH results I was unable to find one that was this high. Mine was 69.89 with a T-4 Free of 0.5. I have recently also been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and am currently on Metformin 50mg, twice daily. I have also recently had 3 stints (all the same??) with kidney infections, within the last 8 weeksin the ER with a high fever (104) and dehydration. I have been on 13 days of Cipro (250 twice a day), then 10 of Bactrim, when my face swelled up and my GP thought I had an allergic reaction, and I was put back on Cipro (now 500 mg twice a day). My question is, could this all be related to having a thyroid problem?

The call from the GP today suggested a visit to an endocrinologist. Does this sound like the right step? I am currently taking 150 of synthroid.
