How risky are liposuctions?

Postby TDM » Mon May 21, 2007 11:13 am

I know we could go on and on talking about all the reasons why a person would be better off changing his lifestyle than having a liposuction, but I have made up my mind about having a liposuction and don't need to delve into this. I will only reconsider having a liposuction if its medical risks outweigh its cosmetic benefits.

If it's a safe procedure, I will have it done and then, once I have spent a few thousand dollars, deal with keeping the fat off. If I fail and gain the fat back, that's a risk I am willing to take.

I am particularly interested in getting rid of the fat in my thighs, particularly in my inner thighs, and the fat in my flanks. I feel I can get rid of the fat in my belly with enough abs so I don't really need a liposuction there.

That being said, is there any major medical risk associated with liposuctions that I should be aware of before I consider this type of surgery?

By the way, I am guy in my mid twenties. The last time I checked, I was about 40 pounds overweight. I don't care as much about my weight as I care about all the excess fat hanging from my body.
