Bruise on chest from jogging ??

Postby Alcubierre » Sun Nov 16, 2008 6:25 am

Hey guys,
So I was out jogging and I got a sharp pain in my chest. It was on the left side of my chest above my breast (I am male btw) and it died downed a bit so I ignored it. Well later I took of my shirt to find a fist size bruise there like I have been punched. All that comes to my mind is that a vessel ruptured but I am not expert.

Hello -

It does sound as though a superficial vein may have broken in the skin of your chest. While this is an unusual location for this sort of break, they do happen at times, and in random areas (usually in extremities). This can sometimes be caused by a vitamin K deficiency. If there is any more spontaneous bruising you should bring it to the attention of a medical professional for evaluation. Once is probably just One of Those Things, but more than once would suggest a possible problem either with vitamin K deficiency or perhaps some other blood chemistry issue.

Hope this helps. Follow up with us as needed.
