Hello -
It does sound as though a superficial vein may have broken in the skin of your chest. While this is an unusual location for this sort of break, they do happen at times, and in random areas (usually in extremities). This can sometimes be caused by a vitamin K deficiency. If there is any more spontaneous bruising you should bring it to the attention of a medical professional for evaluation. Once is probably just One of Those Things, but more than once would suggest a possible problem either with vitamin K deficiency or perhaps some other blood chemistry issue.
