low blood sodium and raised blood pressure

Postby CharlesB » Mon Mar 03, 2008 9:57 am

After a recent blood test I was told that my blood sodium levels were low. However I have raised blood pressure 140 over 85. I would have expected the convers, what could be happening?

Thanks
Charles

Hello,
There are multiple reasons for blood pressure and though sodium can raise blood pressure, you can also have hypertension that is just genetic in origin and no dietary changes will affect it. These cases must be treated with medication. If you are overweight you can also benefit from losing even a few pounds and exercise can help but realize that some people still have it despite their best efforts.

Best wishes.
