Hello,
I have just been told by my doctor that I have high levels of enzymes in my liver. I am been sent for another blood test.
I just wanted to know - what can this mean??? I have done research and read quite afew things - including hepititis??? which I don't understand as I have only one sexual partner - how can you get hepititis??? I really do not understand.
Can you please just tell me what this can mean - high levels of enzymes??? I am really worried as I would say I am healthy.

Hi Regret,
Hepatitis can be transmitted in many ways, not just sexual transmission. Elevated liver enzymes do not alway necessarily mean liver disease, but something can be indirectly affecting your liver. Gallbladder disease is just one of them. Perhaps you had a toxic reaction to something you were exposed to, you did not say how high the levels were.
There are 5 different strains of Hepatitis. The CDC website has some great information on all of them:http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/diseases/hepatitis/.
Hope this is helpfu., please keep us posted.
