For about the last 4 days, i've had the sensation that i need to have a bowel movement, but i'm unable to do so. I have been passing some stool (not as much as normal) but the feeling is still there. I honestly don't think that i've ever been constipated before, so i'm not sure if this is the problem, or something else. I have no pain, no fever or anything like that, just this 'pressure' feeling. I have not tried any laxatives yet, but am considering it. Are you able to still pass some stool, yet still be constapated? Thanks. 27male.

Hi Schitzo,
In constipation, either no stool is passed, or small amounts of very hard stool is passed. If you have not tried increasing the amount of fiber in your diet, either by dietary means or supplementation as well as consuming appropriate amounts of water, do so and this should assist in alleviating symptoms.
Sincerely,
Theresa Jones, RN
