My mother is 79 years old, she has diabetes, has had a heart attack, and open heart surgery to 3 bypass, her gallbladder has been removed as well.
For almost a year now she has diarhea at least once a week. When this happens it literally drains her and she is left very weak. A friend told me she could have intestinal cancer.....that scares me. I live in Dallas, and she lives in Tulsa, and I know she needs to be seen. Upon her return I am calling the Dr to inform him of my concern; however, he has known about this and simply says it's her medication. I am beginning think, its much more serious than that.
Other than getting her into see a specialist, what do you or anyone recommend.
I apologize in advance for my mis-spelled words. But please send me some advise.

 Old age is a risk factor for cancer and as such any change in bowel habits should be carefully evaluated. Her doctor would be in the best position to judge the seriousness of her symptoms and his opinion should be taken into consideration.
Symptoms such as bleeding per rectum or a progressive diarrhea would have caused more concern of course. In any case, I suppose getting her examined would be appropriate. Another pressing question is: when was the last time she had a screening colonoscopy?
