I recently noticed something dark, hard, and round inside my belly button. I clean my belly button regularly and it is not lint. It almost looks like a piece of umbilical cord -- I am 23 years old, however, so is that possible?

Hello, No it is not possible but you could have a foreign body in there or it could be dried blood from some injury of which you may not even be aware. You should be able to clean it out and apply an ointment such as petroleum jelly or first aid cream since this site can become irritated.
Best wishes. Debbie
