I havent actually found the correct area to place this question. its interanl medicine but its not gastric i don't think. Anyway my question is about weight gain. I recently got a new job. i sit down alot and i get a regular lunch break. id been steadily putting on weight before the job but i attributed to my not doing much at work. so i started exercising more, and i started eating better but i still keep gaining weight. i have been for the last 5 months. last week i gained 5lbs, that was the last straw. Im going to the doctor soon, but i'd like a little heads up before i get there which isnt until next week

Dear jracine1,
Causes of Weight gain include:
-Eating and psychological problems:
Eating more
Overeating
Changes in life style with increased eating and or reduced activity
Stress eating
Depressive disorders
-Causes due to medical problems can be easily identified if other associated symptoms are present. These medical disease include:
Liver problems
Kidney problems
Thyroid hypo-function
PCO polycystic ovary syndrome.
Keep in mind also that losing weight usually takes more effort and time than to gain weight.
Best regards,
