I was recently prescribed Azithromycin 250 MG Dose Pack for sinusitis and bronchitis. The drug information indicates that this medicine can reduce effectiveness of combination birth control pills. I am currently taking Yasmin 28 day pack, 1 pill each morning. How long would you suggest that I use alternative methods of birth control after completing the antibiotic? I complete the 5 day dose pack 3 days ago.

While it's true that some antibiotics can decrease the effectiveness of oral birth control pills, there is NO EVIDENCE that azithromycin decreases the effectiveness of Yasmin. The warning you saw was probably a more general warning about some antibiotics with some oral birth control pills.
